Oh. Myactualgoodness.

OH MY GOODNESS.
I want to bring one home. Like now.
AHH. They absolutely love getting their picture taken, especially when I show them the picture afterwards. They go burserk. It's awesome. Seeing all of the kids and their families and how the "little" donations make such a huge difference in these kids' lives is unbelievable to witness. Unbelievable. These kids (in the government school) are in a class with at least almost 70 kids. With one teacher. Yes ONE. And there are limited desks, and school supplies and they all have to share just about everything.
Let's take a step back into America where every kid has pretty much at least one of everything from the Target school supply section for school. Most have to share everything. We have everything. We have everything we need and want. They barely have everything they need. Even our standards of 'need' are about fifty times higher than theirs are. Yet they are happy. They are joyful and give thanks for absolutely everything they have. They never complain. I quote one of the staff members at our Vipingo schools: "Why should we complain? We have everything we need, and a God who loves us and provides for us constantly." Let that sink in.

  1. Wow. Such a level of appreciation for so little compared to our standards here in the US. Just goes to show that JOY is not determined by the level of "stuff" acquired.

  2. You are a great writer! So true, we think we NEED more stuff, when we really just need more Jesus. I am beyond thrilled to follow your blog while you are on your trip:)
